It so easy, in the midst of all this planning, to get really distracted with the “wedding” and forgot to plan for the “marriage.” Unfortunately – the reality is that many couples enter marriage with very little planning and many marriages end within a matter of years. Of course, that’s not always the case.

Clarence Vail and his wife, Mayme – were married in 1925. Today, they celebrate 83 years of marriage and have earned a place in the Guniness Book of World Records! The couple were 16 and 18 when they were married. Now, at 101 and 99, they have 6 children, 39 grandchildren, 101 great grandchildren and 40 great-great grandchildren.

When asked why their marriage has lasted so long, Mayme’s answer was simple:

“You take your vows, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer,” Mayme said. “I guess you just stick to it, come what may.”
