When a firefighter has a wedding, you know it is a special occasion for everyone involved! Yet did you also know that some couples who are not actually working within the confines of the firefighter job description still wish to have a firefighter themed wedding? Generally speaking, such special theme weddings are organized by experienced wedding planners as they require a good deal of know how and also professional connections to ensure that the entire celebration is done tastefully and goes off without a hitch.

As this event requires in addition to the typical decorations and other accoutrements a plethora of props and also authentic paraphernalia, it is vital that the wedding planner first and foremost consult with the happy couple with respect to any budget issues. Although it does not have to be a frightfully expensive occasion, any kind of theme wedding usually costs a bit more than your average marriage celebration.
Once the budget details are nailed down, it is time to consider the breadth and depth of the affair. How detailed does the couple want to take the theme? Which parameters will be observed? Some may be content with having decorations at their reception which are reminiscent of the theme, while others want to see the colors through from start to finish. Still others will opt to have their transportation to the wedding locale and perhaps also airport be directly related to their chosen theme. In this case, a wedding planner must know if the couple wishes to be whisked away to the chapel by an authentic fire truck and then find one that will be available for rent on that particular day.

A skilled wedding planner will know roughly how much money to allocate for each of the extras a client couple desires. For a professional, it is unacceptable to return to the couple halfway in the middle of the preparation and request a budget extension due to miscalculations. Even a some agreements between wedding planner and couple may contain a monetary increase clause, it is by and large frowned upon in the industry to make use of this clause unless it is a never before done kind of ceremony and a bona fide estimate could not be as detailed and exact as one might have hoped.
For clients with a restricted budget, it is wise to discuss alternatives to their theme which will still satisfy them but also go easy on the budget. Thus, if renting a fire truck is too expensive, a bright red limousine might be more affordable. In the same vein, if the trampoline your clients requested to permit the bride and groom to make a jump off a roof together is not available, perhaps a different mode of signifying their new life together can be found that still works within the symbolism of the firefighter theme.

I am planing on having a Fire Fighter themed wedding. I have already found so many awesome accessories and decorations.
My soon to be husband has been on the Fire Department for 20 years, and his father was a Fire Fighter before him.
I want to get the papers signed before the ceremony at the Fire Station, and I’m going to ask the Fire Chief to be one of the witnesses to the signing.

I totally agree about how inexcusable it is for a wedding planner to alter budget ideas mid-preperations. A good planner will have approximate budgets for everything. Good stuff!

My fiance, myself, my uncle, my aunt, my cousin, fiance’s brother are all firefighters. My dad is the chief of his dept. Any ideas or pointers would be awesome. We are getting married in Aug 2011 and are from a small town so stuff we could make would be great to. Thank YOU!!!

To Tammy,
My husband and I met on our volunteer department. My father-in-law was a volunteer for 30 years, my dad was one for 2 years, and both our sisters have been volunteers as well. You could use fire related items for table names and decor. For example, Nozzle could be a table name and you could have a nozzle on the table along with a card stating the name of the object and what it is used for.

Wow I had no idea so much went into firefighter weddings. I don’t think my fiance is planning on making such a big deal that i’m a firefighter.. But hey, maybe I’ll be surprised. Some of those toppers are way cool. I think it’d be awesome if we got one of those!

Does anyone know where to purchase the cake topper with the groom climbing the cake and the bride reaching down to him? I have seen several pictures but can’t find it anywhere.
