A tip that I tell my brides. Especially brides that have a wedding 1-2 years away is put together a binder that has your ideas in it. You can rip them from bridal magazines, etc and make an index of cake, reception, favors and put together your ideas so you can just go back to it and add and remove things as your tastes change or the fads change.
I got married in April of 2000 but my hubby proposed to me in 1999. I put together one of these binders and it was great when it came down to knowing exactly what I wanted.
For you cake, take clippings and put them all on one page. You like a border from this cake, but the topper from this one. Remember where you got the clippings from and/or who the supplier was for the topper, etc. So when the time comes, you know where to order it or how to find it.
Just remember if you find the cake topper that you just got to have…get it NOW. As fads change, the cake toppers change too and you may not be able to get it.
Instead of paying $20+ for a commercial wedding planner. Put one together using a $1 3 ring binder, some 3 hold punched paper and some 89 cent indexes from Staples or walmart. You can get these real inexpensive now that Back To School Time is around the corner.
They even have the pocket dividers to put brochures, etc in so you can refer to them. Ask lots of questions for your reception areas.
I have a wedding planning packet I will upload to the group. I will email Chrys to see if its OK. It has all the questions to ask. Just remember to book ahead. The bakers, caterers, reception sites book up quick.
I had a bride call today that wanted to know if I can do her wedding cake next week (July 8th). I already have 5 weddings on my schedule but since its an evening wedding. I could squeeze her in. If it was an AM wedding. I would have had to turn her away.
