Saving That Gown
Posted by Crystal in Bridal Gowns & Accessories, Wedding Planning
As you plan your wedding, you will probably spend a great deal of time trying to find and perfect wedding gown. With all the time, thought, research and money you are putting into your dream wedding gown, make sure you spend some time looking into cleaning, preserving and storage for your gown after the wedding.
The more informed you are, the longer your precious dress will last. A great place to start is the gown preservation section on The Beginner’s Guide to Weddings. Enjoy!
More Guestbook Ideas
A few weeks ago, we posted a great summer beach wedding guestbook that was only $29. Today I was visiting the Once Upon A Family website were I found that album and discovered that it is part of a series with a number of great, affordable ablums that would work as guest books:) The neat thing is that they are affordable enough that you could get matching albums for your wedding photos and honeymoon photos without breaking your budget!
Â
This is the Thanksgiving Ablum and would be perfect for a fall wedding.

This is the Valentine’s Day album and would work for a red wedding, pink wedding, heart themed wedding or a Valentine’s Day wedding.Â

This is the mother’s day album and is very pretty! If you are having a spring wedding, this is the guest book for you.Â

This goregous New Years album would work for any wedding. It is elegant, sophisticated and beautiful.Â

And this is the July 4th album, perfect for a July wedding, or any all-american wedding:) Also great for Navy, Military, Fireman or Police wedding:)
My Wedding, My Weight
Posted by Crystal in Wedding Planning
As most of you know, I sell and design wedding gowns. One of the most common questions that cross my desk:
“How long can I wait to order? I would like to lose a few more pounds first.”
It’s a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and everyone wants to look their own personal best – from the perfect hair, to the perfect dress. While I would never encourage a bride to take extreme measures simply to loose weight for a wedding – a healthy deit and regular excercise should be part of EVERY bride’s wedding planning routine. Why?
Wedding planning is stressful. You need to take time to take care of your body so that it can handle that stress. You don’t want to get to your wedding day, tired, worn out and sick. Taking care of your physical needs and health now will pay off in the end: both in your appearance and the way you feel on your big day!
If you are looking for some encouragement – FItTV now has a GREAT tv shows called Buff Brides: all about brides trying to get in shape for their big day! You can get tips, hints, ideas, encouragement, etc. These are not skinny, model wanna bes- just average brides, with average lives, taking charge and planning their futures.
French Riveria $37/night!!!
Here is another great resource for all you brides-to-be looking looking for affordable honeymoon options. Rentalo is a great site that contains a complete database of rental cabins, lodges, etc world wide! From Canada to the Bahamas, California to Paris – were ever you want to go, you can find great deals on private vacation rentals here!
Some examples:
A Coral Beach Condo in the Bahamas starting at $64 per night – that’s cheaper then a hotel!!!
A two bedroom apartment in the French Riveria for $37 per night – NO KIDDING!!!!!
A Banff Boundary Lodge for as low as $61 per night!
What really shocked me was that I could find an apartment in the French Riveria for $100/night less then the cheapest place in Puerto vallarta, Mexico!! On a two week vacation, you would save $1400 – more then enough to cover the extra flight costs!!Â
Joanne’s Guestbook
Posted by Crystal in DIY Weddings, Flower Wedding Themes, Guest List, Real Weddings
I don’t know about you – but I have a pet peeve when it comes to guest books. For my wedding, we spent $35 on a guestbook, and even with 200 guests, we only used about 1/4 of the pages. So, now I have a mostly empty guest book that I spent way to much money on. Joanne is apparently much smarter then I am, lol.
We found this mini album on eBay for $3.99. With shipping, it came to less then $8! It is 5 x 7, with 12 pages inside. It is also photo safe, and available in a large number of colors! Joanne picked orange, to match her Orange & Yellow Gerbera Daisy theme.
A small photo of the couple will go in the front, and we will dress up the cover just a little bit with scrapbook supplies. We will probably pick up some white or yellow ribbon at the dollar store and replace the black ribbon as well. Then, a picture of the couple will go on the right hand side of each page, and guests will have the facing pages to sign their wishes on.
Joanne doesn’t know this (and I don’t think she reads my blog) but I also purchased two more matching ones and I am going to create some memory albums for her to match the guest book.
OH – and the wedding date is set: October 14, 2006!! YEAH!!!
Plus Size Lingerie
Posted by Crystal in Honeymoon, Wedding Planning
Back when our mom’s got married, plus sized lingerie looked something like this:

Anything that even closely resembled a sexy nighty was ridiculously expensive and very very hard to find. Thank goodness designers have finally started to get a clue!! Today, you can find almost anything you wish – from bridal garters to wacky costumes, in plus sizes – and at really reasonable prices. Take the samples shown below: all available online in plus sizes, for less then $40!!!

Some Tips for Buying Plus Size Lingerie:
1. Shop online. The selection available online is much much more impressive then in store collections which tend to sell out rather quickly. THey are also generally more affordable online.
2. Consider what you wear regularly. The items that look good on you or you are most comfortable in while give you an idea of the type of lingerie to look for. Do you look great in halter tops? Look for halter styles. Do you prefer long skirts over short ones? Pick a floor length gown rather then a cami. You fill feel sexier and more confident if you are comfortable: and condifedence also makes you look sexier!!!
3. Check for styles that offer support. Even at my optimum weight, I have D cups. Any peice of lingerie that does not offer good bust support looks horrible on me. So, I stick to designs that have built in support.
So – go shop:) You’re a bride – enjoy it:)
Bridal Magazines For Less
Posted by Crystal in Wedding Planning

I buy a lot of bridal magazines – I have to feed my addiction some how. I tell hubby it is because I need to stay up to date on trends – but to be honest, I just love them! I don’t love the $5 – $10 price tag though. I found a great site today that I had to share. This site has more then 2500 magazine subscriptions available at really really low prices.
I found a total of 9 Bridal Magazines, including popular ones like Martha Stewart’s Weddings, Brides, Elegant Bride, Modern Bride, Bridal Guide, Hawaii Bride and more. And the prices are delicious!! Take a look:
Six issues of Brides for $1.99
4 issues of Martha Stewart Weddings for $9.95
6 issues of Bridal Guide for $1.97
4 issues of Elegant Bride for $9.97
6 issues of Modern Bride for $3.50
Enjoy

Beach Wedding Guest Book
Posted by Crystal in Beach Weddings, Destination Weddings, Guest List

I am a scrapbooking fan, and I found this today while looking for scrapbooking stuff for myself. This great little scrapbook is 7 x 7″, 25 pages and is PERFECT for a beach wedding guestbook. And, it is affordable, only $29! Not bad at all:)
Some Ideas:
1. If you are a crafty person, you can use scrapbooking papers and stickers to decorate each page to match your wedding theme/colors.
2. For a simpler option, paste a picture of you and your fiance on the right side of each two page spread, guests then sign on the opposite side.
3. If you are having a smaller wedding, you can give each page for each couple/family. Use a polariod camera to take a picture of the couple/family and paste it on the page, then have them sign underneath. You can decorate the pages in advance to match the family/couples personalities as well!
Honeymoon Resorts Savings
I found a great site today for finding affordable honeymoon resort options. This site helps you find great accomodations at 25-60% below the regular resort rate. They also have a special on right now that gives you a free night when you book 3 nights at some Mexico resorts. They have some great resort options available for the price of a hotel room! Resorts include popular locations in Mexico, Bahamas, Disney World, Las Vegas, and many other US destinations.
Take a look at some of the options I listed below. You could spend 4 nights at a resort in Puerto Vallarta for less then $400! There is also a current special on Sheraton Vistana Resort (shown in photo) bookings for the summer. You can stay at this Florida resort for as little as $99 per night.
A EZ-payment program is also available, so you can book now and pay later:)
Some Examples:
Playa Del Costa Sur in Puerto Vallarta – $105 per night – stay for 3 nights, get the fourth night free
La Jolla De Mismaloya Condos in Puerto Vallarta – $90 per night -Â stay for 3 nights, get the fourth night free
Island Seas Resort in the Bahamas – $109 per night
