Best of 2007: Celebrity Weddings

Posted by Chrys on December 28th, 2007

2007 was definitely an interesting year for celebrity weddings but I suppose that’s true most years. So - here are our picks from 2007.

Most Overplayed Wedding of 2007

This was an easy pick - without a doubt the most overplayed wedding this year was the summer wedding of Eva Longoria and Tony Parker. The Paris wedding received a ton of media attention and was quickly dubbed the “wedding of the year” but following the wedding, many bloggers felt their expectations had not been meet. The media attention both before and after the wedding seemed to kill some of the romance of the occasion when it was all send and done. It was a beautiful wedding, but it would have been much sweeter without all the “noise.”

Most Underplayed Wedding of 2007

While Eva choose a lavish ceremony, her Desperate Housewives co-star, Rick Chavira did the exact opposite. In what we believe is the most underplayed wedding of the year, Rick married Marcea Dietzel at home, wearing their pajamas. After the ceremony, the couple celebrated by attending their sons soccer game.

Most Confusing Wedding of 2007

That would be Usher, hands down. Are they? Aren’t they? Canceled. Re-scheduled. Is it mom’s fault? Is it pregnancy complications? Of wait, they did it already? This one really took us for a loop but in the end, Usher and Tameka were married in a small private ceremony followed by a wedding with friends and family later on. We’re just glad it’s finally done:)

Most Ridiculous Wedding of 2007

One guess…. yep - Pamela Anderson’s quickie Las Vegas wedding to Rick Salomon is definitely the most ridiculous wedding of the year. First, you take two stars both known for their parts in celebrity porn movies, who meet when Pam “paid off a poker debt with sexual favors” and throw in a 2 hour wedding between magic shows, a denim wedding gown and a fake plastic cake. Hey - two months later and it’s over. Is anyone really surprised?

Sweetest Weddings of 2007

In my opinion, this award goes to all the brides out there who kept it real. Many celebrity couples choose to keep their special day private and we applaud you for it. Our personal favorite was Rebecca Romijn’s private country wedding when she wed Jerry O’Connell.

In Love With Phalaenopsis Orchids

Posted by Chrys on July 12th, 2007

The exotic phalaenopsis orchid has been a very popular choice for today’s brides, even making it into the biggest weddings this year (Eva Longoria & Tony Parker, July 7, 07) and last year (Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes).

It’s not hard to see why this amazing flower is so popular - it’s unique in that it works for almost anything! It is formal enough for the most elegant black tie weddings, exotic enough for the most exotic destination location, and still fun enough to fit in and add a touch of elegance to even a informal, casual event. The bright white color matches everything, and works with nearly any theme and season.

Of course, the flowers themselves are beautiful enough that some brides even use the flower itself as the theme that ties the wedding together.

Phalaenopsis Orchid Bouquet Ideas

Phalaenopsis orchids, while beautiful, are also not the most budget friendly flower. That doesn’t mean you can’t have them in your wedding on a budget, it just means you have to be wise.

The key is not to overdue it. An entire bouquet of orchids is nice - but a bouquet of less expensive flowers like roses or carnations - designed to showcase 2 or 3 orchids can be just as stunning and much less costly. Even just a few sprays, tied together into an arm bouquet, is stunning! If you love the all-orchid bouquets above - splurge a little on yours and choose a less costly flower for the bridesmaids, making your bouquet the focal point of the floral decor!

The same goes for centerpieces - the beauty of the orchid is it’s simple, clean lines. A single potted orchid with two stems makes a stunning, modern and elegant statement without overdoing it. By finding places to use your orchids as focal points and accents, you can the elegance without a huge price tag.

Additionally, it is a good idea to compare silk and real prices and see if you can find a great deal on a good silk version that you can use to accent bouquets, centerpeices, the cake, and more.

Drug bust leaves Moss at altar

Posted by Chrys on August 28th, 2006

WHEN Kate Moss took her family and friends to an exclusive villa in Bali last week, they were told to expect a very special celebration.

The supermodel flew her brother Nick and friends to the upmarket resort of Bukit, where she was yesterday due to “marry” her drug addict lover Pete Doherty.Moss, 32, had planned a Balinese-style ceremony and had told friends that it was to be the intimate “spiritual ceremony” she and the Babyshambles singer had always dreamed of having.

But last night the wedding was off after 27-year-old Doherty, a self-confessed drug addict, failed to show up for the nuptials after he was ordered into a rehabilitation clinic in Britain following his arrest for possessing class A drugs.

The singer was bailed by a judge on Friday on the condition that he immediately checked into The Priory clinic.

Moss was said to be “in tatters” and speaking to lawyers in the vain hope of finding a legal loophole so Doherty can go to Bali this week.

According to a Beyonce Knowles Fan Blog, even a pop diva needs a budget. Beyonce has reportedly set a budget for her uncoming wedding - a whopping $3M! Some how I doubt we’ll see here her looking for money saving advice anytime soon, lol.

Of course, so far, the actress has not offically announced an engagement, so we will have to wait and see.
