It’s been very warm over the last two weeks – warm as in we’re hiding out in the house to avoid heat stroke and drinking water and lemonade like it’s going out of style. Summer is the most popular season for weddings and while there’s nothing I love more then a romantic outdoor summer wedding it can get pretty hot as well. It’s a rare day, but every once in a while I get a Groom who actually has something to say about the floral arrangement. She wanted a bold splash of color and he simply had to have Baseball! The challenge – how do I satisfy her desire for something elegant and his dream of having a baseball themed wedding. Never being the kind to walk away from a challenge, I stepped up to the plate, choked up on the bat and knocked this one out of the park! Let me know what you think.

The Camo Wedding post has been our most popular post since then – and still gets more traffic then any other individual post on our blog! I guess it’s a hot topic lol. DIY Flower Seed Wedding Favors

Flower seeds make a great wedding favor – especially if you are having a floral themed wedding or an outdoor wedding. The great thing is that seeds can also be a very affordable wedding favor. You can buy a bulk pack of seeds for around $40-$50 and little bags to hold individual bunches for about $3 for 50. Martha Stewart has a few really cute ideas for packaging seeds as a wedding favor – including printable templates.

Easter Lilies for Brides

I adore Easter Lilies – they are my favorite Easter decor item. They are so fresh and pretty – the perfect symbol of spring. I was browsing Etsy today looking for Easter Lily stuff and found some great stuff that would be beautiful for a spring or summer wedding. Take a look!

1. Lily Pendant ($24 from Jewelry by JoChris) – these would make a beautiful gift for your bridesmaids! 2. Lily Earrings ($38 from Laughing Dog Studios) – I absolutely love these! They could be bridesmaids gifts but they are gorgeous enough to be the bride’s earrings as well! 3. Lily Tags (8 for $3.50 from Bunco Betty’s) – these work out to about .43 cents per tag. They could be used as placecards, escort cards or favor tags and this seller is willing to negotiate prices on larger orders as well! 4. Lily Headband ($6.50 from Little Pea Bows) – Perfect for your little flower girl!

Damask Flower Girl Dress

Have you noticed a recurring them around here lately? Lol – ever since Jill started sharing her Damask themed wedding finds, I’ve become a little addicted. How could I not be – damask is just to classic and elegant!

Yesterday I was browsing Etsy for wedding gowns to showcase here on the blog and I stumbled on this absolutely gorgeous damask flower girl dress. Isn’t it unbelievably darling? It’s also not a bad price at $95.

The store, Fattie Pie, also has a great selection of equally adorable dresses in a range of styles and colors in case damask just isn’t your thing.

An Open Letter to My Favorite Stores

Dear T.J. Maxx, Roth, Marshalls, Garden Ridge and Michaels,

I regret to inform you that if you do not remove all of the amazing black and white damask goodies from your shelves immediately, I will be terminating my almost daily visits to your stores. It seems that every time I enter your doors some black and white damask lovely beckons me, calls my name, FORCES me to buy them. It is due to these lovelies that I must work a part-time job in addition to my full time one.

In your aisles I call my Mother breathless, like a drug addict looking for my next fix.

“MOM” I cry “I found black and white damask LAMPS. OMG MOM, I NEEEEEEEEEEEEED these lamps”.

To which, she replies “calm down, Jill, and tell me what you’ll DO with these aforementioned lamps.”

“Ok, you’re right mom, I don’t know what I’d do with them yet… I guess I don’t NEEEEEEEEEEED them, but I really really want them”.

“Jill, put down the lamps and walk away from the store”.

Thanks Mom, your Voice of Reason has saved me from some very unnecessary purchases. But The Voice of Reason could not stop me from purchasing the black and white damask napkins with a monogrammed C, even though they were “too expensive” and I couldn’t find “enough for everyone”. Because, seriously, they’re amazing.

But I did refrain from knocking down the lady that grabbed a pack of “C’s” at the same time I did. Although I did audibly gasp and had to stifle the urge to say “Are YOU getting married in 4.5 months with a black and white damask theme??? AND are YOU marrying a man with a last name that starts with ‘C’?!? Are you? Are you? ARE YOU? I DOUBT IT!”.

I am proud of my restraint.

So, my dearest T.J. Maxx, Roth, Marshalls, Garden Ridge and Michaels, it is au revoir for now. We will meet again on May 23th.
