COTW Black & White Wedding Cakes
Posted by Crystal in Black & White, Wedding Cakes
This week’s Color Of The Week is the ultra-elegant combination of Black & White. Here are some examples of goregous black & white wedding cakes that are elegant and absolutely unforgetable.

COTW: Black & White
Posted by Crystal in Decorations, Destination Weddings
It’s time to revive the Color Of The Week. Some of the first decisions most brides make is the date, location and color. We generally expect a color theme at all weddings. It wasn’t always that way. Traditional, formal weddings did not allow for color – they were black and white.
While many brides today prefer to have color, black and white is still a very elegant, formal color scheme and brides are once again returning to this classic, sophisticated look. So, this week we will feature Black & White as our color scheme.

Starfish ideas for a Beach Wedding
Posted by Crystal in Beach Weddings, DIY Weddings, Decorations, Destination Weddings, Wedding Favors

Starfish make a great theme or accent peice for any beach themed wedding. Here are some neat ideas for incorporating starfish into your decor.
1. Small starfish can be used to decorate each wedding invitation, program, placemarker or table marker.
2. Place Starfish on your wedding cake, in your centerpeice, in your flowers, or in garlands used for decor.
3. A large starfish can also make a great wedding favor. Tie each one with a ribbon and a personalized tag.
4. Create a beach wedding canopy by hanging Starfish, shells, and other sea “life” from the ceiling on fish wire, raffia or ribbon. This is a great way to bring a little beach into an indoor or tent reception as well!
A Blossom A Day…..

The Daily Blossom is a great company I found on MySpace. I feel in love with their style right away. Their arrangements are unique, fresh and very, very romantic. Their prices are also refreshing:) They are located in California. Here are some of my favorites from their gallery.

More Guestbook Ideas
A few weeks ago, we posted a great summer beach wedding guestbook that was only $29. Today I was visiting the Once Upon A Family website were I found that album and discovered that it is part of a series with a number of great, affordable ablums that would work as guest books:) The neat thing is that they are affordable enough that you could get matching albums for your wedding photos and honeymoon photos without breaking your budget!
Â
This is the Thanksgiving Ablum and would be perfect for a fall wedding.

This is the Valentine’s Day album and would work for a red wedding, pink wedding, heart themed wedding or a Valentine’s Day wedding.Â

This is the mother’s day album and is very pretty! If you are having a spring wedding, this is the guest book for you.Â

This goregous New Years album would work for any wedding. It is elegant, sophisticated and beautiful.Â

And this is the July 4th album, perfect for a July wedding, or any all-american wedding:) Also great for Navy, Military, Fireman or Police wedding:)
Taking themes to the extreme
Posted by Crystal in In The News, Real Weddings, Wedding Themes

I LOVE weddings – and all things wedding related. I spend a lot of time researching weddings, getting ideas, etc. I have seem some far out things but I have to admit, when this crossed my desk this morning, I was surprised. Not often do I see something so different that I can honestly say I have never seen anything like it before.
The bride, Murdanalee Hagedorn – went all out with her John Deere themed wedding – from logo printed bridesmaid gowns to logo printed ring pillows. The bride arrived at the ceremony on a hay wagon pulled by a john deere tractor. The groom, Roy Cate, arrived aboard a antique John Deere Tractor. The bridesmaids even wore rubber boots for this Walla Walla, Washington wedding.
While I am not sure I am a fan of those bridesmaid outfits – I have to admit: if unique and unforgetable is what she was going for, she hit the nail on the head.
Sand Dollar Wedding Theme
Posted by Crystal in Beach Weddings, DIY Weddings, Decorations, Destination Weddings, Wedding Favors, Wedding Themes
We are well into August, and you would think that beach weddings are coming to an end – but beach weddings: at destination locations: are actually quite popular during wedding months as well. And, if you are planning a beach wedding for next summer, end of season sales are a great way to save some money on your next decorating needs.Â
So, if beach weddings interest you, you will love these sand dollars. Sand dollars are beautiful and make a great beach wedding theme. Large sand dollars (3-4″) can be used as keepsake wedding favors: just tie each one with a raffia bow and a personalized tag.
Medium sizes make great decor peices. You can use a magic marker or gell pen to write on them and use them as place markers or table markers. They can be used in your centerpieces, or as accent pieces on the cake or guestbook tables.
Smaller sand dollars (1/2 – 1″) can be used to accent invitations, programs, place cards, table names, the guestbook, or even placed on small picks and inserted in among your flowers!
DIY Gerbera Daisy Invitations
Posted by Crystal in DIY Weddings, Flower Wedding Themes, Garden Wedding, Invitations, Real Weddings

Today we printed out the first half of Joanne’s wedding invitations. The front of the card has a small square with a gerbera daisy in the bottom corner. The guests names are printed next to the square.
Inside, I made a pale orange background with orange gerbera daisies in the bottom corner and a darker orange outline.
We bought photo-quality cardstock paper – 50 sheets for $15! We will only need about 20 sheets. They are printed two per page, cut and folded in half. We are also making matching tags for the wedding favors that will be printed on some of the extra pages. I am also going to use the same design to decorate her guest book (watch for pictures in the near future:))

Joanne’s Wedding Cake
Posted by Crystal in Flower Wedding Themes, Real Weddings, Wedding Cakes

This is the plan for Joanne’s wedding cake. It will be a 3 layered white cake with a few elegant scroll details and batious colored gerbera daisies placed in various locations around the cake. She purchased a Precious Moments cake topper on ebay ($30 – it was a discontinued style she really really wanted) that will go on top of the cake.
Mosaic Marbles
Posted by Crystal in DIY Weddings, Decorations, Polka Dot Wedding, Wedding Themes
I posted a few polka dot wedding centerpiece ideas last week that required black and white glass pebbles but was having trouble finding a reliable online source for them. Today, I found them on the Mosaic Tile Arts website. They are about $2-$3 per pack of 50.
Some things they can be used for:
- filling vases
- covering sand in buckets
- sprinkled around the centerpiece for added color
- accenting favors, placecards, table signs, out of town guest bags, centerpeices, candle holders, wedding cakes, etc.
They also carry mosaic tiles, mirror tiles, tumbled glass (like sea glass) and more which could be used for DIY decor projects as well:)
