River Rock Beach Wedding Centerpiece

riverrock.jpg

Here is another GREAT idea for a centerpiece! This River Rock collection comes in this 4.5 x 4.5 inch box that is perfect for a beach wedding. Simply remove the rocks and place a pillar candle in the box. Add some sand at the base to hold the candle steady, then add the river rocks. Use the remaining river rocks to decorate the table around the box.

The name itself is very neat – but if you don’t want guests to see it, wrap raffia or blue ribbon around the box, tying in front of the logo. Then, glue a small shell or starfish to the center of the bow.

The best part – each box with the rocks is only $7.99!!!!

Awesome Deal: favors or centerpieces

91_4796.jpg

I was looking for a gift at one of my favorite sites when I came across this pot/candle holder. This 3 1/2 inch high ceramic pot is on sale right now for $1.99 – and would be perfect for a summer wedding!  There are a number of ideas I came up with that could use this pot:

Centerpiece & Favors for A Rectangular Table: Order one pot per guest and then place them down the center of the table. You can place candles, a small plant or a silk flower arrangement in each pot – or vary them for a unique display. At the end of the evening, let guests each take one home with them.

Favors: These pots would make lovely favors, with pottede plants, chocolates or a candle inside. Place one on the center of each place setting.

Centerpiece for a Round Table: For a round table, start with 3 pots per table, and a length of blue semi-sheer fabric. using little blocks orboxes, create three  “levels” on the table and drape the fabric over the levels. Then, place one pot on each and sprinkle  rose petals, confetti,  strings of pearls, etc in among the fabric. You can place plants, flowers or candles in the pots. For a simpler look, place a round mirror in the center, place a single pot on top and put clear votive holders around the pot.

Here is another one that I found as well. This ceramic flower arranger could work beautifully with any color scheme and is on sale for $1.49!

Dancing Shoes … uh …. thongs….

k00429_large.jpgk00443_large.jpg

Some of my favorite wedding pictures are those awesome picks were the bride lifts up her wedding skirt to reveal a pair of white running shoes under! I wish I had thought of that! I wore heals, and spent most of the reception bare foot so that I could dance. I got to dance, but my feet were disgusting afterwards! I wish I had thought to bring a pair of “dancing” runners.

WIth summer wedding in full swing, flip flops may be the perfect summer dancing shoe! Not only are they affordable, but they are comfortable and work well for a summer wedding, garden wedding or beach wedding! Don’t like heels? A nicely decorated pair of flip flops is perfect for a semi formal or informal summer wedding! Most of the guests will never see your shoes – but should they catch a glimpes: make sure you are co-ordinated by decorating your sandals to match your wedding colors – like these shown here from Michael’s.

And make sure you get at least one picture – it will be a highlight you will love to show for years to come!

Chocolate Covered Fortune Cookies

fortune_cookie_collection.jpg

Here is a neat idea for an asian themed wedding – chocolate covered fortune cookies! When I found these, I knew they HAD to be blogged! These are 75 cents each and they come individually wrapped and tied with a ribbon in the color of your choice! They can also be dipped in colored chocolate or sprinkles. All you need to do is add a tag with your names and the date on it and you are done. I think it is pretty safe to say that even a DIY bride can not beat that price:)

COTW: ORANGE wedding favors

This is the last day of our Orange Week, and I will finish off with some orange wedding favor ideas – unless I find a Must See before then end of the day, lol. Enjoy:)

custdiyfav_daisyfav_red_submain1.jpgcustdiyfav_daisyfav_red_submain_yellow.jpg

These beautiful favor boxes are $1.95 from Shophie’s Favors. You can fill the box with chocolates or mints and add a beautiful, floral touch to each place setting!

This Large Glass Butterfly might be a bit expensive for a wedding favor – at $8 each. But, it would make a lovely and inexpensive centerpiece. Surround it with silk daisies for a butterfly garden feel.

Orange Marzipan Roses from Marzipan World are cute idea for a favor. They are $2.63 each including the box, and are Gluten and GM Free! For a special touch, using orange ribbon or an orange stamp to decorate the boxes.

For a more affordable option, you can purchase orange organza bags in bulk and fill with mints or candies. I found these ones on Ebay. You get 100 bags for about $14 including shipping!

Cool find: Pink Polka Dot Purse Frames

pinkhandbagplacecardframe.jpg

I found these today on the Favor Ideas site and HAD to share them! They are so cute! At $3.75 each, they would work as favors for a small wedding, table numbers, bridesmaid gifts, bridal shower favors or a garden party. The frames are pink and black polka dot design and they are beautifully adorned with black ribbon trim and a pink satin rose. The black beaded handle adds to the decor of the purse frames. And of course, then can be shipped to Canada – which is always a plus.

Pink Polka Dot DIY Wedding Cake

audreyweddingcake.jpgBEFORE YOU BEGIN

Before your wedding, you need to learn how to work with fondant. You can buy fondant premade or as a powder mix at most cake decor suppliers and large craft stores. You can also find recipes you can try on Baking 911. To learn a little more about using fondant, read Martha’s Article on Fondant. Once you have decided on the fondant you will be using – either store bought or homemade – then you need to practice using it  -  I recommend making at least one or two single layer trail versions so you are comfortable working with the fondant, and also practice making bows for the decor if you intend to use fondant bows.

TO DECORATE THE CAKE

You will need to start by preparing the four cake layers and decorate each seperately. Each layer is first covered in cream colored fondant. Then, use a chocolate colored fondant, rolled flat and a very small cookie cutter to create the dots which will be placed at random around each cake. Each layer is then finished with a chocolate colored ribbon along the lower rim.

When you are ready to assemble, place the layers together and then finish the look by placing 5 large pink bows attached to picks into the cake.  If you prefer a completely edible look, the chocate edging can be made with strips of chocolate fondant and the pink bows can be made with pink fondant.

DIY Thank You Cards

thankyou.jpg

I found these at a vendor party I attended earlier today. They are called "perfectly printables" from Patty Gale Designs which basically means you print them yourself. When I saw this one – I feel in love.

The design is $1.99 – and you can print it as often as you wish! Perfect for all those wedding thank you notes you will need to send out in the next few months. Just purchase some thick paper and envelopes – then print them out as needed!

They also have a blank design available, also $1.99. This one could be used for thank you notes, bridal shower invitations, "will you be my bridesmaid" notes, save the date notes, and even as the wedding program for a totally co-ordinated look! And you only have to buy the design once!

You get to download the design immediatly so you could be printing in minutes.
