Pretty Little Princess

I LOVE Spring! It means the snow is going, and it also means NEW FASHIONS:) I have a weakness for cute, spring dresses both for myself and for my girls! Take a look at this adorable spring dresses that would make gorgeous (and of course, affordable & reusable) flower girl gowns.

These dress are all from Target and most are $15-$25.

First: I personal wedding addiction - Black & White! These black and white dresses would make adorable flower girl dresses, and they are so classy! Add a small white shrug to either of the first two for a very affordable, chic look.

Another look I LOVE for Spring Weddings: Floral Printed Flower Girl Dresses. I particularly like the green and blue color scheme of the first one, perfect for spring.

And, here is one more that I just love because it is so fresh and fun. I can picture it with blue bridesmaids gowns and a white bridal gown - it would add a fun touch to the whole thing.

Mosaic Marbles

Posted by Chrys on August 8th, 2006

mosaictilearts_1909_2886732.jpgI posted a few polka dot wedding centerpiece ideas last week that required black and white glass pebbles but was having trouble finding a reliable online source for them. Today, I found them on the Mosaic Tile Arts website. They are about $2-$3 per pack of 50.

Some things they can be used for:

- filling vases

- covering sand in buckets

- sprinkled around the centerpiece for added color

- accenting favors, placecards, table signs, out of town guest bags, centerpeices, candle holders, wedding cakes, etc.

They also carry mosaic tiles, mirror tiles, tumbled glass (like sea glass) and more which could be used for DIY decor projects as well:)

Polka Dot Wedding Centerpieces Idea 3

I found this display on Target. A black and white polka dot ribbon tied around the case is all it would take to turn this vase into a perfect centerpiece. You could also place small votive holders with black and white votives around it for a romantic candle lite dinner.

These are lovely, and are $29.99 each. You can find them on the target website.

If they are a little expensive for your tastes, you may be able to get the look for less. Glass vases can be rented from your wedding rental provider for a few dollars. Silk pink florals can be purchased at the craft store along with some polka dot ribbon. If you are not a fan of ribbons - black and white stones in the vase would also make a beautiful touch.

Polka Dot Wedding Centerpieces Ideas 2A and 2B

Version 1:

tin-bucket.jpg

This Tin Bucket project we shared earlier would also work as a polka dot wedding centerpiece.

For The Bucket:

- Use polka dot paper for the stripes on the top and bottom of the bucket.

- Use a pink ribbon instead of a checked ribbon.

- The tag would be made using a black background, polka dot top and pink bottom.

- Use pink for the flowers to finish the can.

(Complete instructions)

Options To Fill The Bucket:

- Fill with sand to hold white pillar candles. Place a thin layer of white and black stones to hide the sand.

- Fill with white flowers. Glue Black stones or beads onto picks to inset into the flowers for a “polka dot” look.

Version 2:

You could rent silver vases similar to this one. Fill each vase with white roses. Use the black stones or beads on picks, mentioned above - to add “polka dots”. Finish each arrangement with a pink ribbon around the vase or pink rose petals sprinkled around the bottom of the vase.

Polka Dot Wedding Centerpieces

Posted by Chrys on August 5th, 2006

Yesterday, I got a message from a bride asking for centerpiece ideas for a black and white polka dot wedding with pink accents. So, over the next few days I will put together some ideas and share them on here as I come across them.

Here is my first idea:

98410788_80995c7c24_m.jpg

1. Rent glass containers from your rental provider.

2. Line the bottom of each container with black and white round glass decor pebbles. Another option is the decorative gravel you can buy for fish tanks. Or, check ebay or a local craft store for large black and white beads.

3. Place a pink flower into the pebbles and fill with water.

4. For the candles, you could do white, one white and one black - or if you wish: take some time and use some black waxĂ‚ from the craft store to drip “polka dots” right onto the candles.

5. Sprinkle roses petals around each table. You could do white, black(check out ebay for black petals), pink or some combination (white & black, white & pink, all three, etc)

I think that white petals with white candles, black & white pebbles and a pink flower would be a very elegant choice:) If you can’t find black and white pebbles - then use clear peddles, with polka dot candles, and white and black rose petals.

Cool find: Pink Polka Dot Purse Frames

pinkhandbagplacecardframe.jpg

I found these today on the Favor Ideas site and HAD to share them! They are so cute! At $3.75 each, they would work as favors for a small wedding, table numbers, bridesmaid gifts, bridal shower favors or a garden party. The frames are pink and black polka dot design and they are beautifully adorned with black ribbon trim and a pink satin rose. The black beaded handle adds to the decor of the purse frames. And of course, then can be shipped to Canada - which is always a plus.

Pink Polka Dot DIY Wedding Cake

Posted by Chrys on June 21st, 2006

audreyweddingcake.jpgBEFORE YOU BEGIN

Before your wedding, you need to learn how to work with fondant. You can buy fondant premade or as a powder mix at most cake decor suppliers and large craft stores. You can also find recipes you can try on Baking 911. To learn a little more about using fondant, read Martha’s Article on Fondant. Once you have decided on the fondant you will be using - either store bought or homemade - then you need to practice using it  -  I recommend making at least one or two single layer trail versions so you are comfortable working with the fondant, and also practice making bows for the decor if you intend to use fondant bows.

TO DECORATE THE CAKE

You will need to start by preparing the four cake layers and decorate each seperately. Each layer is first covered in cream colored fondant. Then, use a chocolate colored fondant, rolled flat and a very small cookie cutter to create the dots which will be placed at random around each cake. Each layer is then finished with a chocolate colored ribbon along the lower rim.

When you are ready to assemble, place the layers together and then finish the look by placing 5 large pink bows attached to picks into the cake.  If you prefer a completely edible look, the chocate edging can be made with strips of chocolate fondant and the pink bows can be made with pink fondant.
