I LOVE these! They are called “Ice Blue” and the collection includes a ring pillow, flower girl basket and guest book with pen. I They have a very elegant, modern feel to them – perfect for a winter wedding! They are also fairly affordable. I found the pillow and the basket on eBay for less then $15 each. The guest book and pen was listed for $22.

I found this deal on Favors For You. They offer custom printed invitation sets with cards, rsvp cards and envelopes all printed to match. Below are a few of their snowflake designs, though they do have designs for any season.

The invitations are very simple – and make a beautiful invitation on their own but there are plenty of ways you can dress them up as well. Here are a few of my ideas:

1. Add a second layer – trim the invitation down on the sides, and then mount on colored cardstock for a 2 layer invitation. Very simple, and the cost would be about 25 cents extra per invitation depending on where you get the paper.

2. Add a 3″ wide strip of paper around the invitation and then wrap a ribbon with a bow around that (see a photo here). The extra cost would be about 30 cents per invitation, and would have stunning results.

3. Create your own folding invitation. Start with a 8 1/2 X 11 piece of colored cardstock. Place it landscape, and fold each edge in at 2 3/4″ – leaving a 81/2 x 5 1/2 space in the center. Attach the invitation in the center, then fold the side panels in to close the invitation. Close the invitation with a seal, ribbon, etc. Extra costs can be as low as 50 cents per invitation depending on what you use to seal it.

Those are just a few ideas, I am sure you can think of more:) Even if you do the folded version, with ribbon to close it, you are still only going to be spending $2 or less per set for your complete invitation set!

Snowflake Placecard Frame – 100 for $95, that’s less then a dollar per guest. These could be used as placecards, or if you are using random seating, place an engagement photo in each. Use a variety of photos, and then combine them with flowers, candles or other decor items to make a very personalized centerpiece. Guests can then take them home with them as a keepsake.

Snowflake Key Chain – currently available for $1.09 per keychain, these come boxed with a thank you tag, ready to give. I would remove the tag and add my own, personalized tag for a unique touch though. You could also hang these from a fir tree, or from white tree branches as part of your decor or centerpiece and then allow guests to remove then at the end of the reception.

Snowflake Bookmark – priced at $62.50 for 50, these bookmarks match the key chains above. These could also be used as placecard holders. Print the placecard on stiff paper, then use this bookmark to attach the paper to a napkin on each place setting. You could also use these as an escort card/favor combination. Personalize each one by printing the guest’s name on the clip with permanent marker. Then, slid in a card with their seating details and a thank you note. Lay them out on the escort card table for guests to pick from.

Our first eBargain is this lovely white and silver snowflake ring pillow, with a sheer organza overlay, Absolutely lovely for a winter wedding. I would take it and add a wide silver ribbon around the middle for an extra touch. I found this one at Wedding Accessories By Jessica for $9.99.

Supplies / Cost Up Front – for each invitation you will need:

- 1, 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of textured white cardstock – about 25 cents depending where you shop. Try searching eBay or contact online scrapbooking boutiques for deals on bulk purchases.

- 1, 5 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ piece of patterned paper, I used Jack Frost from the Basic Gray Blitzen Collection – about 10 cents per invitation

- 1, 5 1/2″ length of 1″ ribbon, price varies depending where you get it. I purchased mine at the local dollar store for about 15 cents/invitations.

- 1 snowflake embelishment. I used Dimensional Stickers from K & Company. I paid $6 for 6 at my local scrapbooking story but if you are make a large amount, I suggest checking out eBay, dollar stores, etc – for more reasonably prices embelishment ideas. The ones I used came to $1/card.

TOTAL: Using the more expensive embelishments, $1.50 per invitation not including envelopes.

Step 1: Gathering Supplies

- 1 – 8 1/2 x 11 piece of white textured cardstock for every 2 invitations

- 1, 12 x 12 piece of printed paper for every 10 invitations

- 5 1/2″ of 1″ ribbon for each invitation

- 1 large embelishment for each invitation

Step 2: Cutting/Folding

a. Cut the white cardstock in half creating 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ inches pieces, fold each piece in half to create a tent card.

b. Cut the patterned paper into 5 1/2″ x 12″ pieces, and then cut into 2 1/2″ sections

Step 3: Taping/Gluing

a. Tape or glue the patterned paper to the bottom of the tent card front

b. Tape or glue the ribbon centered across the top of the patterned paper

c. Tape or glue the embelishment to the ribbon, off centered.

Step 4: Finishing

a. For a finishing touch, use a corner rounder to round the bottom edges of the front and back of the card

b. Print your invitation wording onto a colored paper and tape or glue to the inside of the invitation. If you prefer, you could save time, money and paper by print the wording onto the inside of the white cardstock before cutting/folding instead.

VARIATION IDEAS:

There are plenty of ways to vary this design – or to use it for other themes! In the photo at the beginning of this post, you can see two examples using the same paper but different ribbon and embelishment colors. Here are some other ideas:

- change the paper colors/pattern

- use a different embelishment: holly, flowers, poinsetta, butterfly, cally lily, etc – to match your theme

- change the size, for a larger invitation try using a full 8 1/2 x 11 sheet folded into a 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 tent card

- change the size or location of elements like the paper, ribbon or embelishment

- Add stamps! Customize each invitation by stamping your names, the date or a sweet sentiment onto the front. Suggested places: above the ribbon, just opposite the embelishment or along the bottom, centered on the patterned paper.

This snowflake wreath could be used as a centerpiece, place a rented hurricane glass in the middle with a candle burning in the middle. You could also use some white gosgrain ribbon and hang the on the church doors, above the alter or any place that needs a little something.

This  is a very simple yet lovely idea for a wedding favor. You can purchase the bags, and add the snowflake accents and ribbon. Fill with mints, white chocolates, white candies….

This snowflake  needlework design is actually fairly simple to complete and would be a great way to customize a table cloth, napkins, tabel runners, etc. If could also be done on white in a pale blue or silver color.

Another way to accent a table cloth, runner or napkin is to use stencils, fabric dye and spray on fabric paint. This table runner was dyed blue and then stenciled with white spray paint. You could do silver on white, white on silver, blue on silver, or blue on white as well.

Here is another unique idea that could be used for Save The Date cards, thank you cards or wedding favors. It is a card, with a detachable ornament keepsake. You could use these as wedding favors and include a thank you note inside so your thank you notes are taken care of:)
