I have a secret. Well – it’s not a secret – it’s just something I’ve never shared here on the blog. I love baseball. It’s a fairly new passion – I started playing last year as a way to spend more time with my hubby and was in love with it by the end of the summer. So, it was only a matter of time before my baseball obsession met my wedding obsession and it happened today when I stumbled across the adorable Home Run baseball wedding cake topper in our Wedding Shop this afternoon.

So, I started brainstorming ways to work a touch of baseball into a modern wedding. Here are a list of ideas to get you started:

1. Use your favorite baseball team’s colors in your wedding color scheme.

2. Purchase ties and cufflinks in a baseball theme or with your favorite team’s logo for the guys.

3. Use team names or the names of players from your favorite baseball team instead of table numbers at the reception.

4. Have the ring bearer carry the rings in a kids sized baseball mitt – the mitt could be a gift to him as well!

5. Favors could be chocolate baseballs like the ones shown above (from Favors And Flowers) or any traditional baseball snack. For us, that might be little containers of sunflower seeds. If you want to create a unique favor tag, have an engagement photo designed as a baseball card, complete with your “stats” to give to guests.

6. Have custom invitations designed to look like baseball game tickets – or design your own if you’re handy with a graphics program. Or- try these customizable tickets that are adorable and affordable.

7. Instead of a wedding guest book, have guests sign with a permanent marker on a piece of baseball memorabilia: a cap, a jersey, a baseball, a wooden bat or an old baseball glove.

8. Wear a garter belt in honor of your favorite baseball team.

Have other ideas? Please – do tell!
