Polka Dot Wedding Centerpieces
Posted by Crystal in DIY Weddings, Decorations, Polka Dot Wedding, Wedding Themes
Yesterday, I got a message from a bride asking for centerpiece ideas for a black and white polka dot wedding with pink accents. So, over the next few days I will put together some ideas and share them on here as I come across them.
Here is my first idea:

1. Rent glass containers from your rental provider.
2. Line the bottom of each container with black and white round glass decor pebbles. Another option is the decorative gravel you can buy for fish tanks. Or, check ebay or a local craft store for large black and white beads.
3. Place a pink flower into the pebbles and fill with water.
4. For the candles, you could do white, one white and one black – or if you wish: take some time and use some black wax from the craft store to drip “polka dots” right onto the candles.
5. Sprinkle roses petals around each table. You could do white, black(check out ebay for black petals), pink or some combination (white & black, white & pink, all three, etc)
I think that white petals with white candles, black & white pebbles and a pink flower would be a very elegant choice:) If you can’t find black and white pebbles – then use clear peddles, with polka dot candles, and white and black rose petals.
Sand Coated Pillar Candles
Posted by Crystal in Beach Weddings, DIY Weddings, Decorations, Destination Weddings

Here is a simple, beautiful DIY project for a beach wedding centerpiece. Simply coat each pillar candle in glue, role in sand and let dry. Some Tips:
- Talk to the experts at a local craft shop to find out what glue would work best.
- Add some gold glitter in with the sand for a little extra sparkle.
- Rather then ribbon on the wick. tie the ribbon around the candle, and a shell glued to each end.
- Group 2 or 3 different sizes together, and surrounded by tropical flowers, shells or sea glass.
Decorated Tin Bucket DIY Project

This project was originally submitted to my Two Moms blogs as a home decor project, but as I was looking over it, I realized how perfect it would be for a beach or garden wedding – or a fall themed wedding!
The bucket is 4″ tall, small enough to make a great wedding favor! Just fill with goodies, a candle, or give as is! These would also make great centerpeices with flowers or sand and a pillar candle in each. If you look at a local craft store or online, you can probably find smaller ones to use a votive holder/favors and larger ones if you want a larger or layered centerpiece.
Do double duty: a small version could be used as a votive holder for romantic lighting, favor for guests to take home, and placecard – all in one. To do this, simple put the guest’s name on the top portion of the tag, with a thank you note, your names and date on the bottom portion! You save a little money – and table space!
For a beach wedding: Use beach colors (sand, blue, etc) and replace the flower cut outs with sailboat, fish, shell and other beach shapes – or even real shells!
For a garden wedding: Use as is, but with colors that match your wedding colors.
For a fall wedding: Use earthy tones like reds, yellows, browns, browns, oranges, etc. Instead of flower cut outs, use leaf cutouts.
You can find the complete instructions on my Two Moms blog. Enjoy.
Some Neat Finds that could be Beach Wedding Worthy

Cute Bamboo Torches for lighting! They come decorated as shown! These could be placed around the reception area or along walkways. They could also be used as “candles” down the wedding aisle. They can be planted in the sand to make them sturdy, and they burn on oil and will hold up to breezes better then a regular candle. They are $18.95 for a set of 3, already decorated!

Raffia and Shells Garland – this is really pretty! You could use this inbetween the torches around the reception area, pathways, or even as decor for the wedding aisle, strung from chair to chair. Could be used for the head table, cake table, guest book table, etc. These are 67″ long for $7.95.

Grass Table Skirt – looks kind of tacky with the beach ball and blue table top, but with a dark green or white table top and some garland or tulle swags, this could look very elegant. You could even put icicle lights under it. These are $13 for a 9″ skirt, but would work well to use just on the head table and/or cake table to make them stand out.

These are neat, but not cheap ($40 each) . If you are having a beach wedding, you could set up a few resting spots like the ones in the picture to add to the decor and give guests a place to sit and chat.

At $15 for a set of 3, these sea shell votive holders would work great as centerpeices or even as favors if your budget allows. I love the fishing netting used here. Three of these, with a framed photo of the couple, arranged in a pile of that netting would make a neat centerpeice. Or, arrange a large peice of drift work, one candle and the netting, for another great centerpiece idea!

If you are having a fun, casual beach wedding, these tote bags would make great Out Of Town guest bags or even wedding favors! They are only $15 for a set of 12 – so they are also fairly affordable.
COTW: Bling Bling DIY Crystal Drops

If you loved the Crystal Drop accents on Carmen’s elegant wedding cake – you can easier steal the look and make them yourself! These could be used to accent your wedding cake, bouquets, centerpieces and more.
All you will need is some sturdy silver wire and “crystal” drops – you can find both at a local craft store. If you can not find wire that is sturdy enough and silver – use another color and spray paint them with silver paint.
Cut the wire into strips, each a little longer then you need them to be. Then, slide a crystal drop onto the end, fold the end over and twist to secure the drop.

That’s it, that’s all – insert them into the decor were ever you want a little sparkle! Bend the wires to a suitable curve if needed.

$10 Centerpiece Ideas
Posted by Crystal in Decorations
A recent article in a bridal magazine (no idea which one, I read a lot of them) stated that the most important part of your wedding decor is the centerpiece. Guests spend a great deal of time at their tables, so this is the one peice that will be seen the most. A great centerpiece does not have to be difficult or expensive. Look at these cute, ready to go centerpieces you can get for $10 each!

Until I started the Lime Green theme this week, I had never heard of Cymbidium – but it is goregous!! It is a lime green colored orchid that is actually becoming quite common in weddings! Here are some pictures of different color combinations using Cymbidium from Flower Scents.

And my personal favorite – a possible centerpiece for my wedding:

I found another great wedding decorator’s website today, and it included this stunning Lime Green and earth tone table setting. I love the earthy colors she used to accent the lime green. They take an otherwiase bright color, and turn the look into a rich, romantic, elegant setting.

Writing On The Walls

I shared a while back about the hot new trend towards wedding graffitti – or custom wedding wall art. Today I found another great site offering wall art. Quotes On The Wall specializes in home decor wall quotes but they have a few wedding worthy quotes. They also offer custom quotes and graphics! They are a bit more budget friendly then some of the bigger names I have seen, so check them out! The samples show below were less then $30 each.
