Save The Date Cards
Posted by Crystal in Guest List, Invitations
What Are They? Do I need to have them?
While wedding invitations generally go out 6-8 weeks before the wedding, save the date cards are a nice way of letting guests know in advance what the wedding date will be. This is especially helpful for guest who will need to make travel arrangements.
So do you need them? If your guest list contains guests who will need to travel you should at least send save the date cards to those who will need to book time off and plan to travel. This gives them extra time to book flights, hotel rooms, etc. If you wedding is a destination wedding, those who you are inviting should receive save the date cards for the same reason.
What Information Should They Include?
Basically, they need to include your names, the wedding date, and something to let them know that an invitation will follow at a later date. There is no right or wrong way to do it: they are a perfect way to add your own unique touch to your wedding. The actual style of the invitation should reflect your wedding in some way: for example, if you are planning a very informal affair, have a formal looking card.
Some Things That Can Be Used as Save The Date Cards:
- Cards similar to your invitation, or even a different style
- magnets
- Martha Stewart had a neat idea to use large numbers strung together on a ribbon
- calendar pages
- postcards
- the magnetic photo strip favor posted earlier would also make great DIY save the date cards. You could make it magnetic, or use cardstock and make it into a bookmark.
- on that note: bookmarks, lol
- business cards
 Other Information You Can Include:
- your wedding website if you have one
- hotel information if you have arrangements with a particular hotel
- any information that you feel may help guests with their travel plans
Eventations for Invitations
Posted by Crystal in Invitations

I recently ventured into MySpace and have discovered a lot of small businesses, musicians and more who have wonderful myspace pages. So, I thought I would start sharing some of them:)
This one is for Event-ations and they do custom wedding invitations. They have some stunning samples shown on their picture page of sample invitations, the ones shown below are some of my favorites. They also have a website and you can find that link on their myspace page as well.

DIY Gerbera Daisy Invitations
Posted by Crystal in DIY Weddings, Flower Wedding Themes, Garden Wedding, Invitations, Real Weddings

Today we printed out the first half of Joanne’s wedding invitations. The front of the card has a small square with a gerbera daisy in the bottom corner. The guests names are printed next to the square.
Inside, I made a pale orange background with orange gerbera daisies in the bottom corner and a darker orange outline.
We bought photo-quality cardstock paper – 50 sheets for $15! We will only need about 20 sheets. They are printed two per page, cut and folded in half. We are also making matching tags for the wedding favors that will be printed on some of the extra pages. I am also going to use the same design to decorate her guest book (watch for pictures in the near future:))

Joanne’s Wedding Invitation
Posted by Crystal in DIY Weddings, Flower Wedding Themes, Free Stuff, Invitations, Real Weddings
We have decided to make invitations ourselves. I made out four, 4.25 x 5.5 inch designs. Joanne is having a hard time deciding between the first two. (By the way, if you click on the images, a full size will open and you can save it. They are free gerbera daisy invitation templates that you are welcome to use:) If you do use one, let me know – I’d love to see the results)
The invitation will be made as a card. The gerbera square (also free, take if you wish) shown below will be on the front, right hand corner of each invitation, with the guest’s names printed next to it (one of the benefits of DIY – fully customizable!!!) For those that need to be mailed, the address will be printed right on the front of the card so envelopes will not be needed.
The design Joanne chooses will go inside the card, with the invitation wording printed there as well. Each card will be sealed with a daisy sticker – purchased as a set from ebay for 99 cents!
Once we finish them – I will take some more pictures:)

Beach Weddings – 5 Musts for Beach Invitation Wording
Posted by Crystal in Beach Weddings, Destination Weddings, Invitations, Wedding Themes
Destination weddings to Hawaii, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Maui, Jamaica and more are becoming more and more popular as destination wedding planning online has become easier and easier. The beach is the most popular destination wedding theme these days and many brides want to start their wedding theme off right with a beautiful beach theme wedding invitation.
Many beach wedding invitation sites like BeachWedlockInvitations.com exist to offer hundreds of beach wedding invitations, but beach brides aren’t worried about finding the right beach invitation as much as they are worried about their beach wedding invitation wording.
Every bride wants her wedding to be unique and her wedding invitation is no different. Finding the perfect beach wedding invitation wording is as important as finding the perfect beach wedding invitation itself, so here are 5 beach wedding invitation wording tips.
1. Know yourself and your spouse to be – Your beach invitation wording should reflect you and your future spouses personalities, love and quirkiness … yes, quirkiness. Wedding invitations have been done for millions of years, if you want to be original, you are going to have to capture what makes you and your beach love different than other couples.
2. There is no wrong wording – Certain wedding invitation wording ethics exist, but most people don’t know them and wouldn’t notice if you went according to the rules or not. Besides, more and more brides and grooms are throwing the rules to the wind these days and just writing what they want. Don’t worry about trying to follow all the rules. The reason you’re probably having a beach wedding is because you didn’t want the traditional wedding ceremony anyway, so have your beach wedding invitation reflect the same free flowing spirit that the beach has.
3. Know your audience – Even though we just mentioned that your beach wedding invitation wording should be about you and your future beach spouse by placing your quirkiness in your beach invitation wording, remember who your audience is. If you are sending this invitation to an 80-year-old grandma, you probably don’t want to use profanity or other inappropriate language.
4. Beach phrases – Find a single beach phrase that fits you and your spouse but also suits the beach setting you will be married in. “Once upon a time on a beach …†or “What happens on the beach … stays in our hearts,†are just some examples. More examples can be found at BeachWedlockInvitations.com.
5. Match your wording to your invitation – Simple beach weddings with simple beach themes should have simple beach wedding invitation themes as well. A beach wedding with 10 – 50 people is an intimate setting and the invitations should reflect that. Don’t bog down the wording with a 20 line poem to begin the invitation. A beach wedding with over 500 people can be reason for the 20 line poem.
Good luck with your beach weddings, your beach wedding invitations, and your beach wedding invitation wording. To see the most beach wedding invitations in the world on one Web site go to: BeachWedlockInvitations.com.

This adorable little cards are from Earthworks and they are so cute! They would make great thank you notes – but you could easily adapt this same style into a DIY invitation as well.

This cute design is a Anna Griffin design! This unique style is perfect for an invitation – just print you information in a pretty script and you are done:)

Here is another of my favorites but I can not for the life of me remember were I found it. The LOVE paper could be printed or you might be able to find it at a scrapbook store and make your own.

Today, I decided to take a look and see what kind of things I could find for “pink & brown wedding” and “pink & brown dress”- check out these great finds! I won’t link to the auctions as auctions are constantly ending – but visit ebay and do a search! You might find these or better!
I found – garter belts, jewelry, favors, invitations, dresses, handbags, guestbooks, ring pillows and pew bows! Click on images to see larger versions.
COTW: ORANGE Invitations
Posted by Crystal in DIY Weddings, Invitations
Today’s Color Of The Week post showcases Orange wedding invitations. I have discovered this week that finding orange items was not as hard as I had expected. Finding NICE orange items is another story. Here are a few I enjoyed.

This Orange Calligraphy Card from Papel Vivo is very unique and tasteful – though not overly budget friendly. Prices start at $375 for 50 invitations. A creative bride could create a similar style herself with a little work and save a great deal.

This fun & funky design is called Brillant Gerbera from Cloud Nine. The DIY Bride can save money buy printing them herself! Unprinted invitations are about $1.25 each including an envelope. They also offer ready-to-send versions for an additional cost.

Southwestern Annoucments carries this Orange Invitation as well as the orange response card shown in front. I’m not to sure about the response card but I love the invitation. These are also VERY budget friendly at $25 for 50 invitations with envelopes.

White Orange from Renaissance Writtings is a beautiful set and the price is not to bad either. The panel invitation shown is $1.25.

SOL and COSMO are both DIY kits from Invitesite. Prices for each invitation range from $2 – $2.75 which includes everything you need for making and sending – other then the stamp.
