Calla Lily Wedding DIY Projects

While doing some research for this post – I learned a very interesting fact! Apparently, a calla lily is not actually a lily – in fact it is not a flower at all but rather a modified leaf! Regardless, this regal "flower" is associated with some of the most elegant weddings becuase of it's stunning, graceful and exotic appearance. They are also generally very pricing, and many brides to day are opting for high qulaity silk versions to cut down on costs.
One of the best things about silk flowers is that you can prepare them ahead of time and they won't wilt! For the nervous DIY bride, this means you can arrange and rearrange weeks in advance until you have it just perfect! Need ideas? Here are some great DIY Projects for a Calla Lily Themed Wedding.

These two bouquets each features stunning silk Calla Lilies with assorted greens and satin ribbons. Matching bridesmaid's bouquets could be made by simply using a little less flowers for a smaller version. Depending on the cost of silks at your local craft store, these bouquets could be made for as little as $30-$40 each: as compared to anywere from $75 – $300 from a florist!

Dress you men to match, with a simple elegant calla lily boutineirre. For the ring bearer, make a smaller version with only one calla lily for a complete look! You could also have the flower girl carry a tiny bouquet of one calla lily and greens.
For some DIY reception accents, a calla lily place card frame is a prefect table accent – place one in the center of each plate for a perfect finishing touch! This reuseable fram could also double as a wedding favor! Or, you can place little chocolates (white of course) or mints in a favor box and decorate with ribbon and calla liles for an elegant finish! For a centerpiece, a tall clear vase holds a single silk calla lily anchored in clear craft stones with water just for show. Add a romantic candlelight glow by surrounding each centerpiece with three glass votive holders decorated with a tiny bow and calla lily.

Pretty In Polka Dots
Posted by Crystal in Bridal Gowns & Accessories, Flowers, Invitations, Polka Dot Wedding, Wedding Favors, Wedding Themes
I talked to a bride today who is having a black and white polka dot theme with pale pink accents. I have never heard of this before but I think if would be absolutely lovely! Here are some ideas for incorporating this theme:
A tea length wedding gown is perfect for a fun wedding like this! The photo shown here is Madison from Chrys Cross Bridal ($199) rendered to show a polka dot sash and top with pink trim. Matching bridesmaids gowns in black and white polka with a pale pink sash and top would be the perfect compliment!Â\ Or pink polka dot dresses with black sashes for a calmer, romantic feel. The men would look dashing in polka dot vest with pale pink boutinieres.
Flowers could be pale pink roses or gerbera daisies. The bridesmaids would be accented with pink ribbon, the bride’s could have polka dot ribbon. For a simple yet stunning centerpiece, place a single pale pink gerbera in a clear class vase tied with a polka dot ribbon. The bouquets shown here from Jenny’s Flowers would look stunning in a pale pink color with the polka dot ribbons.
Your table could be set with white dishes and table cloth , with a pale pink runner and black napkins or have tables alternating white and black table clothes with pink linens for a “polka dot” room. Or go all out with table settings like the one show below from Distinctive Event Rentals.
For a simple yet stylish guest book, find a scrapbook with black pages. Using pink and white cardstock, cut circles in different sizes and paste one of each color on the right side of each 2 page spread. Pick a white circle as the main circle, and then have the pink circle behind it as an accent. The accent circle could be only part way on the page, with excess trimmed off. Make each page a little different. On the left side of each two page spread, place a black and white photo of your and your fiance. Then, provide pink gell pens for guests to sign in the white circles.
Have more ideas? Those are just a few that popped into my head as I was working on that dress image. Feel free to use the comments section to share your ideas as well!
