We started discussing candy buffets last May with a post loaded pictures and tips on how to create a lovely candy buffet on a budget. Derek & Sharon shared this inverted security envelope idea on Design Sponge earlier and I thought it was worth mentioning. Now, probably not a great idea for wedding invitations - but it’s a very neat way to dress up thank you notes. They  are very affordable - all you need is a little glue. They are also environmentally friendly, since you are reusing envelopes rather then throwing them out. Visit Design Sponge for simple, easy to follow instructions.

You may heard that the average cost of a single wedding is around $27,000.

Now get ready for this one.

Can you believe that the average cost of a SECOND  wedding is around $12,000?

In other words, the first timers (probably without any experience) spend more than twice of what the second timers spend.

That tells me that having experience can save you more than $10,000.

Of course, there may be other factors like number of guests and wedding qualities. But I guarantee that experience and know-how’s are the main factors.

Okay - LOVE THIS!!!  One Love Photo shared this recently as part of their Sweet Things series: unique things that people have done to make their weddings more personal. This couple had a canvas prepared with a pencil outline and divided into squares. Then, each guest gets a chance to paint in one square. This would be an awesome activity to set up at the reception, perfect for the couple with an artistic flair.

This could also be a VERY affordable option - canvas and paints are fairly affordable at Micheals or other craft stores.

It so easy, in the midst of all this planning, to get really distracted with the “wedding” and forgot to plan for the “marriage.” Unfortunately - the reality is that many couples enter marriage with very little planning and many marriages end within a matter of years. Of course, that’s not always the case.

Clarence Vail and his wife, Mayme - were married in 1925. Today, they celebrate 83 years of marriage and have earned a place in the Guniness Book of World Records! The couple were 16 and 18 when they were married. Now, at 101 and 99, they have 6 children, 39 grandchildren, 101 great grandchildren and 40 great-great grandchildren.

When asked why their marriage has lasted so long, Mayme’s answer was simple:

“You take your vows, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer,” Mayme said. “I guess you just stick to it, come what may.”

I LOVE Spring! It means the snow is going, and it also means NEW FASHIONS:) I have a weakness for cute, spring dresses both for myself and for my girls! Take a look at this adorable spring dresses that would make gorgeous (and of course, affordable & reusable) flower girl gowns.

These dress are all from Target and most are $15-$25.

First: I personal wedding addiction - Black & White! These black and white dresses would make adorable flower girl dresses, and they are so classy! Add a small white shrug to either of the first two for a very affordable, chic look.

Another look I LOVE for Spring Weddings: Floral Printed Flower Girl Dresses. I particularly like the green and blue color scheme of the first one, perfect for spring.

And of course, flower accents are great to!

And, here is one more that I just love because it is so fresh and fun. I can picture it with blue bridesmaids gowns and a white bridal gown - it would add a fun touch to the whole thing.

My Dad, a avid Coke fan, would LOVE this idea! There is definitely something very unique about it and it could be perfect for a vintage wedding theme! Wedding bee, Ms Magnolia came up with the idea for her recent Altanta wedding.

Personally, I prefer the shape of the  special edition Coke bottles. My dad used to collect the bottles like crazy, so when my brother-in-law decided to “elope” - aka gave us one weeks notice of a pending private ceremony - we surprised them with a informal reception and I used the empty bottles as part of the centerpieces for the impromptu party. They were a huge hit. We had rectangle tables, so I placed them along the table with single long stemmed flowers in each. We sprinkled some sliver confetti in between, and added votive candles for a romantic touch.

Ritzy Bee Blog recently posted some adorable ideas for using buttons in your wedding decor! I won’t share all the photos with you, because you can see them over there - but here are my favorites:)

Buttons add a touch of vintage whimsy to a wedding, and the best part is that they don’t have to be expensive. Many of the projects shown, like that ring pillow for example, could be done using leftover buttons from grandma’s sewing box. I also really love the button boutineirre - easy to make, inexpensive and a great alternative to flowers if your guys are into the whole “flower” thing, lol. Anyway - Ritzy Bee has tons more pics so click over to see hers.
