Blue Gerbera Daisies
Posted by Kari in Flower Wedding Themes, Flowers, Wedding Themes on June 20th, 2006
Today, one of the search terms used to find this blog was “do gerbera daisies come in blue?” I thought – what a great question! I have looked everywere and have yet to find a blue gerbera that was not fake unfortunately. According to the Wiki – they come in pink, white, red, orange and yellow. I remember back when I was younger, we could pick white daisies and put them in water with food coloring and after a day or two, they would be blue. I wonder if this would work with a gerbera daisy? I will pick on up next time I am near a florist and give it a try:) I’ll let you know what happens.
NOTE: as per the comments: a reader informs me they have seen gerbera daisies in blue at Costco.

My New Necklace
Posted by Kari in Beach Weddings, Bridal Gowns & Accessories, Destination Weddings, Flower Wedding Themes, Garden Wedding, Hot Trends, Wedding Themes, Weddng Party Attire on June 19th, 2006

I did a graphics project for a jewelry business last month and was rewarded with a very cute necklace – the purple one with the daisy. I just got it in them mail today and I am TOTALLY in love with it. So of course, being me, my first thought was "I wonder if they have wedding stuff?" Lol, yes I am addicted. How can you tell!
So, I went looking and found this blue one that was just added. Isn't it goregous! Beaded jewelry are one of this wear's hottest trends, and this oen is absolutely perfect for a beach wedding! The best part is the price: only $20! They have some other colors and styles shown on site and in their gallery as well! Take a look! I bet if you emailed them, they'd probably make one with your choice of theme or color as well. Each one is hand made so it can be customized to suit.
I have the perfect dress to wear with this necklace this summer. I can't wait to go out and show it off.
P.S. Did I mention - you can get matching earrings as well!! No kidding!

Walmart Wedding?
Posted by Kari in Decorations, Wedding Themes on June 19th, 2006
Today I found a great post on Always A Bride featuring wedding worth finds from Target. This brought to mind a Oprah feature I saw awhile back were they decorated a house using only Walmart items. So, i did some searching and found some great Wedding Worth items on the Walmart Website. Here are my favorites for a garden wedding.

This gazebo is beautiful enough to get married under – or a decorative cover for your wedding cake table. Or both, if you have enough time to move it between the ceremony and reception. It is pretty enough to use as is, or add your own lights, garlands or flowers for a decorative touch. This gazebo is $194 – and you will use it for years!

This arbor/bench/planter combination could be planted and decorated to match you wedding colors. Use it as the backdrop for your ceremony, a great spot for photo opps after the ceremony, and a nice place to spot and rest a moment when you feet are all danced out. Rolledback to $148!!!

This set of lanterns woudl be perfect for a late evening garden reception. Place them in the trees around the reception area, on the table as centerpieces, around the dance floor, or along pathways for a soft romantic glow. $35 for 3.

Personalized Stepping Stones! Decorate garden paths, the entrance or the gardens around the wedding area with these personalized stepping stones. Add them to your own garden for a life long reminder of your special day!

Color Of The Week: ORANGE necklaces for the bride or bridesmaids
Posted by Kari in Bridal Gowns & Accessories, Weddng Party Attire on June 18th, 2006
It probably won’t surprise anyone to know that finding a good selection of wedding worth orange necklaces was not an easy task! After all, orange is not the color we generally think of when we think of wedding jewelry. After a lot of searching, I have foudna few pieces that I am proud to share:) My favorite is of course the most expensive, and probably beyond most budgets – but I will share it anyway.

Art Deco Style necklace features orange sapphires, 14k white gold and diamonds. This piece retails for $3400 and is available for a whopping $1950 at Fay Cullen.

Both of these stunning pieces showcase beautiful orange amber stones in Sterling Silver. These are beautiful – and a great deal easier on the budget. Each one sales for under $40 at Argento.

Another favorite find of mien. I love the soft colors and graceful shape of this peice. The carnelians, pearls and sterling silver make a beautiful statement. This necklace retails for $60 at Wrappables and there are matching earrings as well! At the time of writing – the necklace is on sale for $47!

This beautiful necklace combines orange with pale blue and soft green for a stunningly elegant look. This one features Swarovski Crystals in sterling silver and is available for $30 at Chrys Cross Bridal. The second peice, also features Swarovski Crystals in a pale orange heart and is priced at $30.
