More things decided

Posted by budgetdreams on August 9th, 2006

On Sunday Chris and I have decided on a DJ. We are going with a company called Sound of Success. They came in under our budget by 500 dollars which is great since we way under budgeted our pictures. We have 24 hour access to a database where we can select songs we wanted played for certain things or just played throughout the evening. They also have a do not play list.

We also can imput all the bridal party information and anything else we want them to know. I have really started looking into photographers and I am hoping to have an appointment with one next week if everything works out right. I am also talking with a friend who am I almost positive that I am going to be renting table linens from since my reception hall does not have the colors we want.

Oh that reminds me.. we have also decided on the colors of our wedding. We are going with navy and baby blue. Well I think that is everything for now..

 Until next time…

We have found a Church…and other things.

Posted by budgetdreams on July 29th, 2006

Well this past week Chris and I went and spoke with the Pastor at a church near our house. We had thought it was going to be hard for us to find a church that would marry us. Chris is a confirmed Roman Catholic, though he does not pracitic the religion or even believe most of what they do. I was baptised Methodist but did not grow up in a religous home.

So we have been doing research online and thought we would be able to be married in the Methodist Church. We both believe the beliefs of the Methodist Church, which makes things easier. We thought we would have to join the church and attend services on Sunday and then go to some counseling sessions. Well come to find out we only have to do two counseling sessions with the Reverand and we do not have to attend church on Sunday unless we want to. Though we are considering joining the church since I do want to expose my children to church so it would be good if Chris and I were members of a church.

So besides reserving the church for our special day. I have been in contact with different vendors for our pictures, dj, videographer. We have not picked any of these yet. I really need to sit down this weekend and sort through all the emails and stuff I have. But Chris did find a great website called WedAlert. Once I signed up and I told them what I was looking for information on I started receiving a bunch of emails from differnet vendors in my area. This sure was a great find.

Well we need to pick our colors so I can really start lookin into braidsmaids dresses, flowers and invitations. Well this is were we are at as of today. I am enjoying this so much. I love being engaged to such a wonderful man.

Until next time…

Just an update…

Posted by budgetdreams on July 9th, 2006

Well Chris and I put the deposit down on the receoption hall and the best thing is we did not have to pay for it ourselves. I was talking to my boss about what was going on and he whipped out his money and gave me and Chris 1,000 dollars. Yes he had this in his pocket. I was totally shocked. So that was great, our next payment for the reception hall is on my birthday in 2007.

Chris’ mom has found a website that we tell them what our budget is for the DJ, photographer and stuff and then local vendors will contact us if they can work within our budget. I am going to sign up for this and see what happens. Hopefully we will be able to come in under budget for some of these things. Our next big hurdle is going to be where we have the ceremony. I would like to get married in a church..and you think that would be easy right. Well we are having some problems with that. Chris is a confirmed Roman Catholic and I am a Methodist. I have been baptised but never went to church or anything. Chris and I are going to try and speak with the pastor at a Methodist church near us. From doing some reading online it looks like they will marry to people as long as one of them is a Christian. Since I am baptised Methodist and he is Catholic I think we will be ok. We may just need to become a member of the church or something. If this does not work then I think we will be having an outside wedding and then doing a lot of praying that the weather will be good that day.

I will  update again soon.

Reception hall and other things

Posted by budgetdreams on June 29th, 2006

One of the biggest hurdles has been jumped. Chris and I have made the decision on where we are going to have our reception. We are going on Friday after we get out of work to work on all the details and put the deposit down. I am so excited, it sure does make this all feel real.

In the process of looking for a place to have tour reception, we sure did come across some places you wonder “what they are thinking?” We looked at one place that we could have also gotten married on their patio over looking a lake. Sounds nice right? Well the patio was about 5 feet wide….I am not sure how they would have arranged the seats for the guests and the dance floor was really small.

We have also set a budget that I think we will be able to stick too. That was a hard process to go through. Since Chris and I are paying for the entire wedding ourselves we needed to put us on a strict budget so we can save enough money. That is going to be the hardest thing that we do… We are so used to living one way and now we need to completly change how we live.

Well I am off to research more things… I will write again soon.

Hugs,
Kirsten

A little about me…

Posted by budgetdreams on June 27th, 2006

Hello everyone, my name is Kirsten and I am 25. My fiance is Christopher (Chris), 23 and we are both from Connecticut. We both work for the same law firm as paralegals. I am also the office manager. We are both attending school at night as well. Below are a couple questions that should help you get to know me and Chris better. If there is anything you would like to know please feel free to ask in the comments.

When did you meet?

Chris and I met in May of 2001 and started dating shortly after we meet. Well actually we had only knew each other for two weeks when we started dating. We meet through a friend of mine who I had not talked to for over a year because I did not like all the lying and back stabbing that she did. For one reason or another I started talking to her again and she introduced me to Chris (my fiancee now). The first night that I met him I told him to his face that I did not like him. After spending more time with him I grew to like him and wanted to get to know him better. We then started dating on May 17th 2001.

How did he propose?

Well Chris and I celebrated our five year anniversary this past May. Memorial Day weekend we took off and went to Vermont, where we stayed at a friends house. I was on the computer looking up a place for us to eat dinner when he went down stairs to get something. He came back upstairs with his portable drive and told me that our song was on their and he wanted to dance. I did not think anything of it than he wanted to dance. Well the song started to play and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was totally speechless and began to cry. After a minute or so I was able to mumble out yes.

When is the Big Day?

We have set the date of May 17, 2008. Which is our special day. It will also take us this long to save all of the necessary money to pay for it.

What is your style?

I think I would say that my style is elegant but simple.

Well until my next post…

Hugs Kirsten
