Lighted Calla Lillies

Posted by budgetdreams on May 3rd, 2008

I’m not a huge fan of these lighted calla lily bouquets as centerpieces as shown here, they seem a little to “fake” for me, though perhaps in a better setting they would work. However, I would love them as lighting along the pathway during the evening of a summer wedding. They could also look lovely with a wide white ribbon wrapped around with a bow, and surrounded by candles for a soft romantic glow. Available from Oriental Trading’s Wedding Supplies section.

I also thought I would share these wedding cake toppers from Oriental Trading - both priced under $8 for an affordable topper.

Ribbon Bouquets

Posted by budgetdreams on April 22nd, 2008

This ribbon bouquet was featured in the recent Martha Stewart Weddings magazine as part of a feature on ribbon crafts for weddings. This is such a gorgeous, unique idea for a bouquet, perfect for a bride who wants something different but still affordable. The magazine, and Martha’s website both provide complete instructions as well. And, not only do you get something completely unique and unforgettable, but it will make a great keepsake for after the wedding as well!

DIY Pomander Balls

Posted by budgetdreams on April 16th, 2008

I LOVE the look of pomander balls. They are much classier then traditional baskets for flower girls and they also work well as decor items as well. There are MANY MANY ways that you can dress up a pomander ball. The amazing peony and pearl version shown above was found on eHow and just happens to come along with complete instructions to make your own pomander ball with fresh flowers. Of course, you could use the same instructions for silk flowers as well.

Here are a few more gorgeous pomander ideas (click on the image to find the source).

Coca Cola Favors

Posted by budgetdreams on March 11th, 2008

j055.jpgMy Dad, a avid Coke fan, would LOVE this idea! There is definitely something very unique about it and it could be perfect for a vintage wedding theme! Wedding bee, Ms Magnolia came up with the idea for her recent Altanta wedding.

Personally, I prefer the shape of the  special edition Coke bottles. My dad used to collect the bottles like crazy, so when my brother-in-law decided to “elope” - aka gave us one weeks notice of a pending private ceremony - we surprised them with a informal reception and I used the empty bottles as part of the centerpieces for the impromptu party. They were a huge hit. We had rectangle tables, so I placed them along the table with single long stemmed flowers in each. We sprinkled some sliver confetti in between, and added votive candles for a romantic touch.

Wedding Buttons

Posted by budgetdreams on March 10th, 2008

Ritzy Bee Blog recently posted some adorable ideas for using buttons in your wedding decor! I won’t share all the photos with you, because you can see them over there - but here are my favorites:)

Buttons add a touch of vintage whimsy to a wedding, and the best part is that they don’t have to be expensive. Many of the projects shown, like that ring pillow for example, could be done using leftover buttons from grandma’s sewing box. I also really love the button boutineirre - easy to make, inexpensive and a great alternative to flowers if your guys are into the whole “flower” thing, lol. Anyway - Ritzy Bee has tons more pics so click over to see hers.

Sea Glass Candles for a Beach Wedding Favor

Posted by budgetdreams on March 2nd, 2008

Looking for something unique as a wedding favor? What about a Sea Glass Candle? Each of these Soy Candles comes in a glass jar and has an authentic piece of sea glass hidden inside for guests to discover later as they are burning the candles! Tons of colors and scents are available!

Candles are made with NVSoy wax, so they burn evenly right to the bottom and clean up easily with soap and water - so the jars become keepsakes for years to come!

Tie a ribbon with a little note card around the rim with you names and date, and a sweet message, for a very unique beach wedding favor! The jars can also be handpainted with a beach motif and your names if you perfer!

If you are having a candle light evening reception, place one at each place and light it for a romantic glow. There are also larger versions that could be used as centerpieces as well!

Silver Star eBay Finds #3

Posted by budgetdreams on February 29th, 2008

And here we are again, with the last of our series on great silver star eBay finds. I actually only have one item to show you today, but I liked it so much I thought it deserved it’s own post:) This wedding cake topper has a very unique, modern look to it, and would be perfect on top of a simple white wedding cake. The cake topper is available from Twinkle Designs for about $20, so it’s very affordable as well.

This cake topper would work well for a July 4th theme, a white & black theme, or a masquarade ball theme.

Silver Star eBay Finds #2

Posted by budgetdreams on February 28th, 2008

As I promised, I am back with a few more Silver Star finds today:) This time, I found some amazing decor touches!

Silver lanterns with star cut outs and etching - add to your decor, or use instead of flowers for your wedding party. Especially gorgeous for a candle-lite evening wedding! These are selling for $20 for the set of four.

I also really liked these silver star accents. They are 3D acrylic silver stars with glitter - and they are fairly large (6″ x 6″) without being heavy, perfect for hanging from the ceiling over your dance floor! They are sold in packs of ten, so it works out to about $2/star.

And that’s it for today:) I will have one more post tomorrow - come back then:)
